The health department is comprised of the following Divisions that provide services to the community:

The Nevada Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) promotes the health and well-being of Nevadans through the delivery or facilitation of essential services to ensure families are strengthened, public health is protected, and individuals achieve their highest level of self-sufficiency.

Aging and Disability Services (ADSD)

The Aging and Disability Services Division provides leadership and advocacy in the planning, development and delivery of a high quality, comprehensive support service system across the lifespan. This allows all of Nevada’s elders, adults and children with disabilities or special health care needs to live independent, meaningful, and dignified lives in the most integrated setting appropriate to their needs.
The Nevada Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS), together in genuine partnership with families, communities and other governmental agencies, provides support and services to assist Nevada's children and families in reaching their full human potential.

The Division of Health Care Financing and Policy (DHCFP) works in partnership with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to assist in providing quality medical care for eligible individuals and families with low incomes and limited resources. The medical programs are known as Medicaid and Nevada Check Up.

Due to the passage of Assembly Bill 488, mental health and public health have merged to become the Division of Public and Behavioral Health (DPBH). Developmental Services have been consolidated into the Division of Aging and Disability Services.

The mission of the Division of Welfare and Supportive Services is to provide quality, timely and temporary services enabling Nevada families, the disabled and elderly to achieve their highest levels of self-sufficiency.

Pursuant to AB81, the Legislature created a the Department of Indigent Defense Services (DIDS). The Nevada State Public Defender was moved from the oversight of DHHS to the oversight of DIDS.
